Show Me Your Technique at My Creative Time

Hello and welcome to another Show Me Your Technique mini blog hop with some of the My Creative Time designers. Today I'm your first stop on the mini hop.

I have a couple of simple embossing techniques that I want to share with you.

The first one involves CLEAR embossing powder. I absolutely love this stuff and use it quite often. Well today, I'm using it in a little nontraditional way and I love how it turned out. This was not my original idea I found it while doing a Google search for tips and techniques. I can't remember where exactly it came from but I love this idea, someone is a genius...

Can you guess where I'm going with this? Yes, embossing your baby or child's hand or foot prints. Have you ever tried getting your baby's prints with regular ink (I HAVE), wow what a mess. I LOVED how simple this was.

So I inked up my baby's hand with beautiful, clear colored, watermark ink and carefully pressed his hand down onto the blue colored card stock. Then I quickly cleaned off his hand with no real mess, YAY.

Next sprinkle with embossing powder (I chose clear). And tap off the excess.

Next get out your heat gun and melt the clear embossing powder and VOILA!

This is probably the best hand print I've got of any of my kiddos. I'm definitely going to be using this A LOT and I hope it was a helpful technique for some of you too.

I also wanted to quickly show you one of my favorite dry embossing techniques:

I love to ink up dry embossing with a little bit of white chalk ink. After I've done my dry embossing I just take the cover off of the white chalk ink pad and softly rub it across the tag in all directions. I think it really makes the dry embossing pop. This is my favorite ink pad to use for this.

So here is my finished tag. I think I will probably add it to a scrapbook page for my baby later on but for now I'm just going to enjoy that perfect little hand print.
The tag is from Emma's Tag Dies and the pretty blue hemp twine is from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique.

Halloween Holler Fun

Hi and happy Monday. I had some free time to color and thought I would do up a couple more of these Halloween Holler stamps before Halloween. All of these stamps can be purchased at Peachy Keen Stamps (I will provide the links below).

The first one is SY-911 Halloween Holler Frankenstein and I used SY-909 Halloween Holler Got Treats Scarecrow for the sentiment.

This next one is SY-908 Halloween Holler Mummy Man and I used another sentiment from off of SY-909 Halloween Holler Got Treats Scarecrow. That awesome die I stamped both sentiments off of is from My Creative Time's Just Simply Live stamp and Die set.

I colored these with my watercolor pencils. Don't forget that today is another Scrappy Monday over at My Creative Time. Make sure to stop by for lots of inspiration.

I hope you have a wonderful Monday! Hugs- Glora

The paper is a Christmas stack by DCWV. The gingers face is from the Winter Faces by Peachy Keen Stamps. The pretty trims at the top are both from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique and of course that AWESOME LARGE sentiment is from Emma's It's A Magical Season stamp set. Hugs- Glora

MCT Halloween Blog Hop and Sale

Hello and welcome to the My Creative Time Blog Hop and Sale. If you came her from Cindy L.'s blog than you are in the right spot. If not make sure to start back at Emma's blog so you don't miss out on any of these amazing projects.

My mom needed some money holders for the fish pond at her annual Halloween carnival. She does a fun carnival for the grandkids and always has a fish pond at the end where each kid gets to go through once and get a fun prize. Well some of them are getting a little older and she decided to give them some cash instead of a toy or trinket. I volunteered to help make some little money holders because I knew that Emma's Tri-Fold Card Die would make it a breeze.

I made 8 of these total (2 of each one). They are all for boys or married couples so I kept them pretty simply and fun. For this one I used a ghost from Paper Doll Dress Up and the face is from the Everyday Character Faces by Peachy Keen Stamps. The sentiment and bats came from Treats for My Sweet by My Creative Time and of course the awesome stitched Tri-Fold Card Die which is part of Card Sentiments set by My Creative Time.

Here it is opened up (I just adhered each side to make a little pocket for the money):

We are major Disney fans so I had to make a couple of Disney Halloween ones.

This is a ghost I designed in my Gypsy. And the sentiment comes from the Small Talk stamp set.

Spider Mickey was also designed in my Gypsy. The Trick or Treat sentiment is from the Card Sentiments stamp set. This is the set that comes with the 3x3 Tri Fold Card Die.

This last one has a sentiment from Treats for my Sweet and the cat is from the PKS-CottageCutz Nikkity Knack Cat Die.

Simple and easy but fun. I love how Emma's products work together so beautifully.

Thankful For YOU!

Sorry that this has been a very light crafting week. Life just happens sometimes and other things have to come first. Today I wanted to share with you a card that I made for one of the Peachy Keen Stamp Challenges over on the Peachy Keen Connection.

I'm SO in love with the new October 2012 Stamp Kit of the Month over at Peach Keen Stamps. This little chipmunk reminds me of the little Disney chipmunk named Dale. I thought he would really cute pulling a HUGE acorn for his Thanksgiving meal. I colored on Kraft Cardstock with Copics and Chalks. Then I added some Glossy Accents here and there. For the background I clear embossed the pretty Oak Leaves and Acorn Background stamp from Peachy Keen Stamps. The twine is from Trendy Twine. Have a terrific day and don't forget about my follower giveaway for my blog anniversary (HERE). Hugs- Glora

Scrapping the Little Things

Hello friends. Today we are scrapping the little things at My Creative Time. I have years worth of pictures and mementos that I have never scrapped not to mention the stuff for my children. For today, I decided to work on where I last left off on my college scrapbook.

I went with a project life style page with clean lines and little fuss. It made this page really quick and easy. I think I could make some headway on my scrapbook if I did these simple sort of pages more often. It is really the pictures I will want to see anyway. I added some pictures and a postcard of a visit to The Alamo.

For the top tag I used Just Tags along with the alphabet and numbers from Just Simply Live. For the bottom tag I used the Fancy Frame Stamp and Die set along with a sentiment from Just Simply Live.

Make sure to stop by Emma's blog to see what everyone has made. Hugs- Glora

Peachy Keen Challenge - Anything Goes

Hi, it is time for another Peachy Keen Challenge and this one is an Anything Goes challenge, so what are you waiting for, pull out your favorite Peachy stamps and submit something over at the Peachy Keen Challenge Blog. I can't wait to see what you all come up with.

I made an easel card for my project.

For this card I used the Twick or Tweet Birdhouse stamp set and the September 2012 SKOTM. I paper pieced the house and then added some Stickles and Glossy Accents. For the sentiment I ran stamped it, cut it out, ran it backwards through my Xyron sticker maker and then added transparent glitter to it. Then I added Glossy Accents all over on top of that. It took a while to dry since it covered a large area but I LOVE how it looks (it is even cooler in person).

The patterned papers are from a DCWV Halloween stack.

Make sure to stop by the Challenge blog and see what the other designers have made and to link up your own NEW project. Hugs- Glora

BOO - Simply Crafts October 2012

It is the first Wednesday of the month and that means that it is time for another Simply Crafts Challenge. Today we are using the vampire bat cut from the brand new Create a Critter 2 cartridge. Normally we would want you to only use this cut or a similar one, but since it is the 1 year anniversary of our challenge blog we are going to let you submit ANY new Halloween themed project. Check out the Simply Crafts Challenge blog (HERE) for more details.

I had lots of fun with this cutie. My card is 4.25 x 4.25". I used a BRAND NEW Peachy Keen Face stamp for my bat, the set this face came from will be released on Friday and is called Piles of 3/4" Smiles (so this is also a little bit of a sneak peek too :)). The large sized boo sentiment is from the Halloween Holler Spooky Tree and Cat set by Peachy Keen Stamps. The bat, cloud and moon were all cut from the Create a Critter 2 cartridge. I added some Stickles to the black areas on the bat, when that dried I added some glossy accents. I was getting impatient for the glossy accents to dry so I started to use my heat gun to speed things up. I moved it around so it wouldn't get too hot and burn, well it started to burn a little anyway so I stopped and let it dry. When I was able to get back to it several hours later the wings had dried with a bit of an outward curve. I actually LOVED the dimension that added to the bat. Here is a side view so you can see what I'm talking about.

Can you see how far those wings stick out? I love it and I hope you do too.

Make sure to stop by Pam's blog (HERE) to see what she did with this cut and how she did it. I've already seen her card and it is an ADORABLE little scene. You won't want to miss it. And if you would like to join in on the fun please link up at the Simply Crafts Blog and don't forget there are still lots of sneak peeks going on at the Peachy Keen Stamps Blog and it is also 3D Wednesday over at My Creative Time. Hugs- Glora

Peachy Keen Stamps - October Stamp Kit Sneak Peek

Well Peachy Keen Fans, I think you are going to just LOVE this new October Stamp Kit of the Month. It is full of fall and Thanksgiving fun.

When I saw this set I knew that one of the first images I wanted to do up was this ADORABLE turkey. I love a cute turkey and this one is AWESOME.

I paper pieced all of the parts and inked them up too. I just used standard cardstock colors. I wanted to keep the card pretty simple and clean looking and I wanted that TURKEY to be the star of the card. He really is a nice sized image as this card is 4.25x 5.5" and he takes up a good portion of the card. The sentiment came from the stamp kit too.

Make sure to check out the Peachy Keen Blog so you can see what everyone else is making with this ADORABLE new kit and the other new stamp sets too! Have a fabulous day! Hugs- Glora
